Abstract

In this chapter we are interested in understanding how contemporary dance involves a series of epistemological contributions, so for this reason we review and analyze the work of iconic and representative dancers and choreographers who are at the pinnacle in the history of performing arts. We guide our discussion on some key concepts and inquiries about dance and movement, related to the work of Isadora Duncan, Jirí Kylián, Merce Cunningham, and Phillipe Decouflé, whose ideas have deeply influenced the epistemological perspectives of dance and movement in our time.
