This article is part of the book Semiosis as Creation: Between Nature, Body, and Art, published by Editorial Universidad del Rosario.

If a small pebble is washed away by the waves and becomes wedged in a rock crevice, this event would have no meaning, as Kalevi Kull observes, without the presence of an external observer. But what happens when a small organism decides to live in that exact same spot? Meaning remains a space of discussion and epistemological tensions, in which it becomes necessary to think about agencies (Tønnessen), practices (Urueña), participation (Lacková), organismic agency (Švorcová), and events (pebi) as concepts that contribute to strengthening semiotic studies as transdisciplinary fields of creation and participation among nature, the body, and art.
